Cardi B is blowing up all over the Internet right now and it’s not because of a new track. A clip from an Instagram Live video she posted three years ago has resurfaced and has stirred some controversy. In it, she spoke about her past life as a stripper and what she had to do to make ends meet. According to her, she would drug and then rob men. This is so problematic I don’t even know where to start.
Since then, Cardi has released a statement clarifying what she said. “I never claim to be perfect or come from a perfect world pwith] a perfect past, I always speak my truth I always own my sh*t,” Cardi explained. “I’m [a part] of a hip hop culture where you can talk about where you come from talk about the wrong things you had to do to get where you are.” She went to say that she never glorifies her past and “I made the choices that I did at the time because I had very limited options.” I’m sorry, but when is drugging someone and stealing from them ever okay? This isn’t excusable in my book. Cardi even said, “The men I spoke about in my Live were men that I dated, that I was involved with.” Yeah, that doesn’t make it any better.
Netizens were divided. Some defended her and others brought up that we should be treating this in a similar way as Bill Cosby. Now, I am not judging Cardi B for being a stripper in the past. If that’s what she had to do to survive, then okay. But the drugging and stealing is a whole other thing that isn’t even the slightest bit okay.
@iamcardib sometimes you talk too much and too loud. I don’t wish downfall on successful peps, HOWEVER!! you bragged about the same wrong doings that got one of my Idol Legacy ruined!! ??♂️
