Take the milk tea obsession to another level and make it at home

Milk tea

Milk tea

The milk tea craze is far from over. New establishments are popping up left and right and old shops are coming up with new flavors to serve the milk tea-obsessed. That being said, if you’re a fan, you know about the crazy lines  that come along with it. If you don’t mind standing in line for close to an hour, I won’t judge but there are others who would never wait that long just for a drink. If you’re the latter, you can just make your own milk tea at home. Go for the classic or experiment with different flavors and variants. You can make big batches, adjust the recipes according to your taste preference, and share it with everyone at home. For your next milk tea craving, try out these easy recipes.

Rose Milk Tea

Make your normal milk tea more special with added rose flavor. Depending on you preference, add as little or as much as you want and adjust the recipe accordingly.

3/4 cup black tea
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 1/2 tsp rose syrup
Whipped cream

1. Add tea, evaporated milk, ice, and syrup into a glass and stir to combine.
2. Top with whipped cream.
3. You can also add tapioca pearls if you want the chewy element.

Chai Bubble Tea

It’s like a classic milk tea drink but with hints of spices like cinnamon. If you have some time, try to make the tapioca pearls ahead of time. These will easily take in flavors so you can soak them in syrup for a burst of flavor.

5 chai tea bags
Tapioca pearls
1/2 cup coconut milk
Honey or syrup

1. Prepare the tapioca pearls by boiling them for 15 minutes and rinsing them.
2. Soak it in water or syrup and then place it in the fridge to chill.
3. For a strong flavor, steep the tea bags in three cups of water.
4. After steeping, add coconut milk and honey or syrup to taste.
5. Add tapioca pearls to a glass and pour milk tea mixture.

Classic Milk Tea But Frozen

Step up your milk tea drinking experience by making your own slushie version at home. Almost any drink turned into an icy concoction is better to enjoy. We suggest drinking this without any pearls or pudding. On its own is fine.

3/4 cup milk
3 tsp honey or sweetener

1. Add milk, honey or sweetener, and tea in a blend.
2. Add ice and blend until you reach the desired consistency.
3. Serve in a large glass.
