Every makeup artist has a story to tell. May it be about humble beginnings or how celebrities and star clients inspired their craft.
Last night, it was all about those stories as the first SM Beauty Ball honored the country’s top makeup experts. The red carpet was laid out for them and their muses. Anne Curtis, for example, served as escort to makeup artist Robbie Pinera (who also is the makeup coach of the reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach), Cheska Kramer was with Jigs Mayuga while Vice Ganda escorted Jake Galvez and talked about why makeup is an art that takes a personal touch and also a well-honed craft.
As the clock approached 8 p.m., guests took their seats at the Rizal Ballroom of the Makati Shangri-la Hotel that was decked out in black and gold for a fine dinner while listening to some song numbers by Abby Asistio. It served as a good prep for the program where SM Beauty presented the SM Beauty Pro Card, an exclusive for makeup artists so they can enjoy unique perks and privileges from leading makeup brands.
The main event proceeded. Makeup artist Bambi Fuentes, salon maven Nica Mendez, and stage director Robbie Carmona were just a few of the presenters as the night went on to give honor to the country’s premier makeup artists. Tagged as “Pioneers of Beauty,” James Cooper, Fanny Serrano, and Jesi Mendez were presented to the audience along with tales of their inspiration and achievement.
On the other hand, six makeup artists were presented as “Makeover Masters” for their continuing rise in the beauty world with their take on beauty trends and impressive clientele. These were Jigs Mayuga, Mickey See, Jake Galvez, Christine Duque, Denise Ochoa, and Robbie Pinera.
